2 Quick Tips For Improving
Your Fitness Website’s
Search Engine Rankings

Having trouble finding your fitness website at the major search engines like Google and Yahoo?

Here are 2 quick tips for improving your fitness website’s search engine rankings so it’s easier for your potential customers to find you…

1.  Focus Each Article/Web Page on a Single Keyword

One of the most common mistakes I see fitness professionals make is focusing a web page on several different keywords.

They’ll list dozens of keywords on their page under the misguided belief that will cause their page to rank well for multiple keyword searches. In reality, just the opposite is true.

By using multiple keywords on a single page, you’re telling Google and Yahoo that your page is NOT about “stability ball exercises”…

…it’s about 26 DIFFERENT topics!

And as a result, they rank your pages much lower.

Instead, keep all your pages focused on a single topic. If you need to cover more than one fitness related topic on your site, then make sure each topic gets its own stand-alone web page.

Beyond keeping each page of your fitness website focused on a single fitness related keyword, here’s the next most important thing you can do to see a higher search engine ranking…

2.  Use Your Keyword In The Right Places

It just stands to reason, if your page is all about “stability ball exercises”, you’ll need to mention the word “stability ball exercises” throughout your page.

And, in order for a page to rank well, you must use that keyword in all the right places.

Here’s a quick run down of the most important keyword “hot spots” the search engines look at, along with some easy guidelines to follow…

Page Title: One of the most important (and heavily weighted) places the search engines look. Be sure to include your keyword in your page’s Title Tag 1-2 times.

Page Description: The description tag tells the search engines what this page is all about. And they use it to relay that information to their searchers. Use your keyword in your page description at least 1 time.

(Hint: Since the search engines use the page description tag to show searchers what they’ll find on your site, be sure to tell “What’s In It For ME?” if I click your link.)

Headlines: Besides the page title, the headlines are the most important place the search engines will look for your keyword. And if they don’t find it here, you won’t rank well. Include your keyword 1 time in your main headline (and possibly 1 time in a secondary headline).

Following these simple guidelines can often be the difference between a fitness website with no traffic, and a front page listing on Google. Put them to work on your fitness website today.
